This practicum is the first year of the Reach Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program, a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing approved induction program for beginning teachers. Participating teachers work with a coach to identify targeted areas of improvement in their teaching. Through an ongoing inquiry–based process of planning, teaching, analyzing and reflecting, teachers use the Formative Assessment System to improve their pedagogical practice. Teachers gather evidence of their growth throughout the year to document in a portfolio submitted twice per year.
